A group of people who have just been allocated houses at the Ile Perseverance village got the chance to visit their new homes yesterday ahead of actually moving in.

The visit was organised by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports and a total of 196 families will be moving into the 196 units of either two or three bedrooms at the Ile Perseverance 1 and 2 at the end of this month.

The new tenants were accompanied by representatives of various government departments, including the Property Management Company, and the Ministry of Land Use and Housing.
During the visit, the Minister for Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports Vincent Meriton spoke about the importance of forming a good community, and developing good relations among neighbours.

He also stressed the need for everyone to play their part in keeping their community safe and free from social ills.
His special advisor Dan Frichot told Seychelles Nation that the ministry does not simply hand over the keys of the new houses to tenants, but goes the extra mile in making them feel included in the community from the very start.

“We ensure that they know the various aspects of living there, as well as the various services that will be available to them there, such as schools, bus and health services, as well as the various government agencies represented in their community,” he said.

“We also let them know about the various regulations of the housing estate, such as no animals and no playing of loud music. We can say that we are not getting any major problems from Ile Perseverance tenants up to date after laying down the rules for the very first tenants at the onset.”

The allocations will start on April 29 and continue until the end of May.
