As part of the development for the tourism industry in Seychelles the Ministry for Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport (MHILT) is initiating several tourism projects on Ile Aurore. These are expected to begin by the end of this year, and if if not so, early next year.

According to Yves Choppy, the Principal Secretary for Infrastructure, amongst different projects for the reclaimed island which include residential and commercial development, the MHILT will be undertaking several tourism projects.
“Ile Aurore will serve as a ‘mixed use’ island,” Mr. Choppy highlighted.
“The reason for having the tourism component on Ile Aurore is because we want the island to be an integrated community where the people living there will have job opportunities in close proximity to their homes. They will have the option to live and work in the same area.”
Mr. Choppy explained that the tourism development scheduled for the island can bring a contribution towards meeting the cost of the main infrastructure trunk because they will also need to use the main infrastructure and facilities on the island.
When discussing about the tourism facilities being planned for Ile Aurore, Mr. Choppy stressed to TODAY: “We want to go into high end hotels, marina and shopping facilities amongst many others. We are also planning on having luxury apartments similar to those at Eden Island.”
He added that there is a part of Ile Aurore where there is the possibility to add an area of reclaimed land to extend the island and they feel that this component (the luxury apartments) can be a development at this level.
For the moment the MHILT is working on the main infrastructure including roads and utilities such as electricity, water and sewerage to facilitate construction works that will be done to develop the island in the near future. Mr. Choppy says they are still in the process of planning how to get investors to participate in the different projects on the island.
